ISHTAR TERRA

Ishtar Terra and is about the size of Australia. On its eastern edge lies the great volcano Maxwell Montes, rising up 12km as compared to Mt. Everest's 8.8km. On one side of the volcano is an impact crater 100km in diameter. The crater is filled with lava.

There is a large plateau which takes up most of Ishtar Terra called Lakshmi Planum. It is about 1500 km across and is surrounded by mountain ranges. Lakshmi Plateau is twice as large as any plateau on Earth. It is possible that this plateau formed from repeated volcanic eruptions that occurred from the numerous volcanoes that were once active on Ishtar

Maat Mons is another of the large volcanoes found on Venus.
