This image taken on Mars by the panoramic camera on Spirit show the rover's colour calibration target, also known as the MarsDial. The target's mirror and the shadows cast on it by the Sun help scientists determine the degree to which dusty Martian skies alter the pan camera's perception of colour. By adjusting for this effect, Mars can be seen in all its true colours.
