Many interesting explanations have been offered over the years for the definition of "honeymoon." In our moon trivia, we are given several choices, and are asked to choose the answer that best describes a honeymoon.
Under certain conditions, all of the answers could be correct. The one that is always correct, is a full moon in June.
The moon's orbit around the Earth is slightly inclined, and therefore, the moon is higher in our skies in the winter, and lowest in the sky in summer. Just as when the sun is lowest in the sky, such as sunset, it appears reddish, the moon also appears different shades of yellow at different times of the year.
The moon is lowest in the sky in June and appears as a golden yellow, much like the color of honey. For this reason, it became known as the honeymoon, and couples married in June, were said to have a honeymoon.
Other months also have names, the indians named February's full moon, the "snow moon." May is the "flower moon," September the "harvest moon" and October's full moon is the "hunters moon."
