Camelopardalis

Mythology

This large but faint and obscure constellation stretches from near Polaris around by Perseus and over to Lynx. It is a newer constellation first identified by Bartschius in 1614. He claimed it represented the camel that transported Rebecca to Isaac.

Alpha Camelopardi (04h 54.0m +66°20') A 4.3 magnitude white class O9 star.

Beta Camelopardi (05h 03.2m +60°26') A 4.0 magnitude star. It is a yellow giant class G0.
